Bude Landing Station

Meridian-1's UK landing point on the Cornish coast — 800-rack colocation campus with 12 MW of critical power.

Location
Bude, Cornwall, United Kingdom
Facility type
Cable landing station + carrier-neutral colocation campus

Bude sits on a stretch of Cornish coastline with a working cable-landing history stretching back to the telegraph era, chosen again for Meridian-1 for the same reasons it was chosen a century earlier: stable seabed geology on the approach, a short onward path to UK and European interconnection points, and an established local permitting and maintenance relationship that a genuinely new landing site would need years to build.

The facility itself is a purpose-built cable landing station attached to a carrier-neutral colocation campus — the cable terminal equipment (line terminating equipment, optical amplifiers, and the beach manhole interface) occupies a secured, access-controlled section of the building, physically and logically separated from the general colocation halls where customer equipment lives. That separation is standard practice across every Current facility: cable-head infrastructure and customer colocation never share unrestricted access paths.

Bude’s 800-rack colocation capacity and 12 MW of critical power make it one of the larger facilities in Current’s UK footprint, sized to support both Meridian-1’s own terminal equipment and third-party equipment for carriers and hyperscale customers who want their routing and switching gear physically adjacent to the cable head rather than backhauled to London.
